8 Healthy Foods To Treat Anxiety

Anxiety can be a debilitating condition that affects the way you feel and think. There are many types of anxiety, but some are more common than others. Anxiety can be a symptom of other health problems, such as depression or ADHD.  It's also more common in older adults. It is a natural human response to stress,  a normal reaction to the unknown. But when anxiety becomes a problem, it can be difficult to treat.

Anxiety is different from worry or nervousness, which is more manageable and can be addressed with techniques such as relaxation techniques or mindfulness practice. If you have anxiety and you'd like to get rid of it, there are many things you can do. Here are some healthy foods to treat anxiety:

1. Almonds: Almonds contain vitamin E, which has been shown to reduce stress and anxiety levels.

2. Salmon: Omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help reduce inflammation in the body, which is associated with anxiety.

3. Bananas: Bananas are rich in magnesium, which helps relax muscles, including those in the brain. It is also good for mental health because they contain tryptophan, an amino acid that is important for serotonin production and release in the brain. It has been found to help with mood swings and depression as well as an anxiety disorder.

4. Dark chocolate: Theobromine present in dark chocolate helps relax blood vessels and increase serotonin.

5. Green tea: Green tea contains L-theanine, which helps induce relaxation without drowsiness.

6. Cherries: Cherries contain melatonin, which promotes sleep quality and reduces stress levels.

7. Yoghurt or Kefir with live cultures: Probiotic yogurt.

8. Whole grains: You should try to eat whole grains such as oatmeal, brown rice, and quinoa. These foods are rich in magnesium, which is a mineral that helps regulate the nervous system and provides relief from anxiety.

In conclusion, the best way to prevent anxiety is to practice mindfulness and self-care and make more time for regular sleep, exercise, and meditation. Also, eating well is one of the best ways to manage your mental health and fight anxiety. The food you eat can also have a significant influence on your mood.  Try to avoid alcohol, caffeine, sugary foods, saturated fat, and high-sodium foods. Instead, reach for snacking on fruit, nuts, sunflower seeds, and yogurt.
